Nominations for the MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2014

The MIDORI Prize is an international prize dedicated to biodiversity, co-organized by the AEON Environmental Foundation and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

The Prize honours individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. By showcasing their work, it aims to encourage emulation and to inspire positive action for biodiversity. It also seeks to contribute to raising public awareness on biodiversity and to the objectives of the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity.

The MIDORI Prize is awarded every two years to three individuals, who are each honoured at an award ceremony held on the margins of the meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD, and who will each receive a monetary prize of 100,000 US dollars. Launched in 2010, this year represents the third occasion on which the Prize has been awarded. Further information is provided in a brochure available on the CBD website at http://www.cbd.int/other/2013-11-22-midori-brochure.pdf.
