Invitation to Register for a Massive Open Online Course on Greening Consumption and Production (31 May - 12 July 2017)

The opening of registration for the six-week Massive Open Online Course on Greening Consumption and Production, which has been jointly developed by the Secretatiat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Development Programme in collaboration with the NBSAP Forum. The Nature Conservancy is also partnering with us to host the course on its Conservation Training website. The course will be conducted from Wednesday, 31 May to Wednesday, 12 July 2017 in English, Spanish and French.

 The course, targeted at policymakers and practitioners working in the area of sustainable consumption and production, is expected to contribute to capacity development for the achievement of the Aichi Biodiversity Targets (especially Target 4) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (especially Goal 12). It will cover the key concepts and principles of sustainable consumption and production, mechanisms to facilitate sustainable consumption and production at the international and national levels, approaches to greening key production sectors (agriculture, forestry and fisheries), sustainable commodity supply chains, and mainstreaming biodiversity into national development planning.

The Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities and relevant organizations are invited to encourage their staff and respective audiences to register and take this important course.
