Call for projects - FREDIC 2019 Development of sustainable agricultural and agri-food chains in West and Central Africa
Created in 2004, Fredic is a financial fund endowed by the regional agricultural profession and the Occitan Region. Its objective is to promote, by example, family farming and territorialized sectors in this field, as an engine for the development of agriculture in southern countries.
Vocation of FREDIC
Fredic was not designed as an institution, but as a tool to support cooperation actions in the agricultural and agri-food fields.
Fredic is administered by a Steering Committee, co-chaired by the Occitanie Regional Council and Asodia. It is managed by Asodia with technical support from Crédit Agricole.
Technically, Fredic supports international agricultural technical cooperation actions such as supporting the emergence of farmers' development organizations and agri-food SMEs, structuring supply chains, etc.). Its proper functioning, “non-speculative”, thus requires a certain flexibility allowing it to be adapted to very diverse situations (countries, sectors, types of loans, etc....)
Call for projects 2019
From 2019, Fredic is evolving; the Technical Steering Committee proposed the creation of a call for projects which aims to finance projects carried out by agricultural organizations, agri-food companies or collective structures composed mainly of farmers and agri-food companies (called the beneficiaries) from 14 countries in West and Central Africa (called the beneficiaries) from 14 countries in West and Central Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Central Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, agri-food companies (called the beneficiaries) from 14 countries in West and Central Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, agri-food companies (called the beneficiaries) from 14 countries in West and Central Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, agri-food companies (called the beneficiaries) from 14 countries in West and Central Mali, Niger, Central African Republic, Central African Republic, Senegal, Chad and Togo.
These projects should correspond
- either to the creation or development of “social enterprises” in the food industry,
- or to the creation or development of collective approaches for sectors in the agricultural and agri-food fields.
The partnership between the beneficiary and a professional agricultural organization (OPA) or a company in the Occitan region is a mandatory condition; the organization or company being responsible for ensuring the support and monitoring of the project. This partnership can be defined as soon as the proposal is developed, or be the subject of joint research by the beneficiary, Asodia and the Occitan Region for the projects selected in the first phase.
Projects taking place in areas marked as being at risk by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in terms of personal safety are not supported: red areas completely excluded, orange zones to be assessed according to the country, the location in relation to the red zones, and current events.
Fredic intervenes by granting the beneficiary:
- or a repayable advance (particularly for investments and/or the establishment of working capital) over a period of 3 to 5 years, a period that can be extended to 7 years in the sole case of setting up a business.
