Celebrating World Migratory Bird Day in Cameroon

World Migratory Bird Day was celebrated from 10 to 13 May 2012 in Buea in the South-West Regions of Cameroon.

The non-profit non-governmental organization ICENECDEV (International Center for Environmental Protection and Community Development) organized a three-day event on the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day. This event saw the participation of schools and local communities in the region. The activities of this day were:

  • Bird watching on Mount Cameroon;
  • A campaign to make taximen aware of birds;
  • A training and education workshop for young school children on birds;

This event reached a large audience and encouraged them to support the protection of migratory birds in Cameroon and in the diaspora.
