Call for applications 2014 for 'Taxonomic training and access to Belgian collections'

The Belgian Focal Point for the Global Taxonomic Initiative (GTI), a member of the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium, informs you of the launch of the new call for applications for its project to strengthen capacities in taxonomy and collections management for the year 2014. On December 13, 2013, we launched our new call for applications concerning “taxonomic training and access to collections in Belgium”.

The 2014 call for projects will finance short-term visits to Belgium for students, young researchers or experienced taxonomists in order to strengthen the scientific and technical expertise in biodiversity of partners in the South.

In their application, candidates must clearly explain:

  • How they plan to use their project to advance research in their field;
  • How they plan to disseminate their results (poster, publication, diplomas, oral communications, etc...);
  • How their project will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and/or ecosystem services in their country;
  • How their project will be able (in the medium or long term) to contribute to the fight against poverty in the countries of the South.
  • How the project will strengthen their institution.

You will find all the information relating to the call for applications here: http://www.taxonomy.be/gti_calls/grants_seekers/outside_be

The call is open until February 16, 2014.

The decisions will be communicated to the candidates by 12 March 2014. All projects must take place between May 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014*.
