The CHM Focal Point from Belgium took the floor to welcome the effective participation of the majority of invited countries. In his remarks he will recall that this training workshop is the second of its kind organized in Cameroon. The first workshop saw the participation of Chad, CAR and Cameroon. He asked the members who participated in the first training to contribute to the success of this workshop. He will then mention that since this last training, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention has made it clear through a recent decision that sharing information is essential to monitor the evolution, conservation and fair and equitable sharing of biodiversity resources. He continued his speech by urging participants to advance the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity by sharing information held by their countries. He will conclude his remarks by saying that this training can only be a success if at the Conference of the Parties (COP12) to be held in October 2014 in South Korea, the representatives of the various countries participating in the training can show other stakeholders through their additions to the Information Exchange Center that activities on the conservation of their country's rich biodiversity have increased.
