Bapouh-Bana REDD+ pilot project development workshop
The objective of this meeting is to raise awareness among stakeholders on the sustainable management of biodiversity, to develop an information note on the Bapouh-Bana forest reserve intercommunal REDD+ project and to promote the initiative nationally and internationally.
Cameroon is resolutely committed to the REDD+ process, the objective of which is to participate in the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions responsible for climate change. After the development of the country's R-PIN and RPP, a national REDD+ committee was set up, chaired by MINEPDEP with the participation of several stakeholders including Civil Society. The latter is represented by the National REDD and Climate Change Platform as well as BOSCUDA for indigenous peoples.
At the regional level, three representatives of civil society have been appointed to lead the process in the West, ADEID is one of these organizations.
At the municipal level, three municipalities in the West were the subject of the choice and installation of civil society REDD+ CC communal coordinations and the municipalities of Bangante, Massagam and Santchou benefited from these dismemberments.
The Bangangté workshop will make it possible to develop a REDD+ pilot project at the level of the Bapouh-Bana reserve, together with the three municipalities whose territory covers the forest reserve. These are the Commune of Bangante, the Commune of Bana and the Commune of Bangou.
As results, we await the pilot project document, the letter from the municipalities to the PNDP, the draft intermunicipal agreement.
