The 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the 9th meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the 3rd meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing (CBD COP 14, CBD COP 14, CBD, COP 14, CBD, COP, MOP, and MOP 9, Cartagena Protocol, and MOP 9, and COP/MOP 3, should address a series of issues related to the implementation of the Convention and its protocols.

A high-level segment is expected to meet from 14 to 15 November 2018. CBD COP 14 and the COP/MOPs should meet in parallel from 17 to 29 November 2018.

The theme of the 2018 Biodiversity Conference is “Investing in biodiversity for people and for the planet.” The high-level segment will focus on: ways to integrate biodiversity in the energy and mining sectors, infrastructure, manufacturing and processing, and health, in the broader context of sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals; and how to engage the international community in the transformation process necessary for the new global biodiversity framework to be adopted in 2020.
