Third National Report: Cameroon
The third National Report on Biological Diversity of Cameroon differs from the previous two in terms of its form and content as stipulated by the provisions of Decision CPVII/25 taken during the Kuala Lumpur Conference on the Convention on Biological Diversity. In addition, it provides an overview of the implementation of the obligations undertaken by Cameroon under the Convention and an evaluation of the measures and decisions taken in relation to the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and related plans and programmes.
This report is the result of extensive consultation with various stakeholders, including civil society, and input from resource persons. In collaboration with other partners and resource persons/consultants, my ministerial department organized consultation meetings. In addition to its importance for the CBD Secretariat and for all Parties in general, the report is particularly useful for Cameroon in that it better informs Cameroonians about the steps to be taken to achieve the goals of conservation of natural resources in general, and the objective of reducing the loss of biological diversity in 2010 in particular.
